You’re my Honeybunch, Sugarplum Pumpy-umpy-umpkin, You’re my Sweetie Pie You’re my Cuppycake…

I love the song…it’s sooo cutee….and i love chocolate cup cakes!!  Sooo chocolate cup cakes i chose you!!!!! Cup cakes are the cutest thing and they taste really yummy. I recently just came back from America for the holidays and I bought some cute decoration sprinkles. The sprinkles here are…usually plain, not colorful and definitely not edible! So i found this cute sprinkles thingo…that has a variety of sprinkles to choose from!! It had dinosaurs…cars..colorful circles…it was really entertaining😀

Hehehe and now to start the recipe…i didn’t actually make these cupcakes from scratch…i just got a cake mix and make cupcakes instead…but they were so colorful and cute…i just had to share em!!  I think cake mixes or cookie mixes are truly yummy…especially pillsbury and betty crocker cake mixes..they are 100% guaranteed yummy! It’s fascinating how we can use a cake mix and turn it into beautiful cup cakes!

I used the Pillsbury Devil Foods cake mix

1 (18.25 oz.) package Pillsbury® Reduced Sugar Devils Food Cake
1 1/4 cups water
1/2 cup Crisco® Vegetable Oil
3 eggs

Preparation Directions:

1. HEAT oven to 350°F. Line 24 muffin cups with paper baking cups. Combine cake mix, water, oil and eggs in large bowl. Blend at low speed of electric mixer for 60 seconds. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes. Fill baking cups 2/3 full.

2. BAKE until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Chocolate Cake – 18 to 22 minutes. Cool completely.

3. SPREAD each cooled cupcake with desired frosting (i used choc frosting… yum2!).

The result….Such pretty & cute cuppycakes…special thanks to my sister and Jade for creating these cute cuppycakes! we sure had fun making em…

Kue Cubit makes me wanna cubbiiiiittttt!!!

Sorry…readers…it’s been awhile since i’ve posted anything…but don’t worry i’ve been busy cooking…just not blogging ;p Blame world of warcraft…i’ve finally got myself into it…& i’m out kicking all the latest bosses in dungeons/raids😀

But since this is not a gaming blog..but a cooking blog…i will be posting three posts at once…so bear with me!!! I’ve also thought about copyrights…and it would not be right for me to put in ppl’s recipe without acknowledging where the recipes came from!!

I missed kue cubit…and i thought about all those kue cubit’s i’ve found in jkt…it made me drool…i wanted to travel to jkt just to get a kue cubit. I remember this one time..pondok indah mall was having this thing where they had all the popular indonesian cemilan…it was crazy….and I think they should do things like that more often. Point is…i love kue cubit..i used to have it well cooked…but then my auntie told me you can have it half cooked…and ever since then..believe me…half cooked was the way to go!! So what did i do? I dragged mum to carefour at about 9pm with my crazy ideas saying i want to make kue cubit that night. Carrefour has a pretty nice cake section and it’s all there in one it was easy to get everything!!  So, i got home…started making kue cubit & when i was done…i had to take care of my bf…who was very sick at the time..but i thought the kue cubit would help make him better ;p

Kue Cubit

Kue Cubit Recipe Source:

  • 4 butir telur ayam
  • 100 ml air
  • 20 g cake emulsifier (TBM,VX,Ovalet) The thing is…i think that there is a difference between these…one is a pengembang kue & the other is something else..and I think it does make  a difference..what do you think readers? I ended up using Ovalet)
  • 185 g gula pasir (Make sure to use gulaku..or a very fine grained gula….)
  • 350 g tepung terigu Segi Tiga Biru
  • 2 g vanili bubuk
  • 3 g baking powder
  • 50 g margarin, lelehkan

Cara membuat:

  • Kocok telur, air, gula, cake emulsifier selama 2 menit
  • Masukkan terigu, vanili dan baking powder dalam adonan. Kocok lagi selama 1 menit.
  • Masukkan margarin cair, aduk sampai rata.
  • Panaskan cetakan kue cubit, tuang adonan ke dalam lubang-lubang cetakan. ( I had to improvise and use muffin cetakan…can’t find kue cubit cetakan…readers do you know where I can find some in bali?)
  • Masak hingga matang atau setengah matang, sajikan dengan keju parut, selai atau meisjes. (CERES!! is the bomb!) Oh btw readers…it never told me how to cook it, but i  do think it means to cook it over the oven. I improvised once again and used the muffin tray over direct heat…like when we normally cook..and i think that was a big mistake because it burned the muffin pan😦 But i mean else are we supposed to check if it’s half cooked and a the ceres at the right time..if it’s inside the oven…lol…gimme tips readers…i’m confused about this…!)

Kue cute!!

At the end of the recipe…here’s what i thought…something in that recipe is too strong…too much…and although it tasted alright..that 1 thing just overtook the overall flavour of it. I’m not sure..if it’s because of the ovalet…because i have never cooked with ovalet, so it might have been that. I would though…try a different recipe..but don’t worry readers..i’ll do that for you!😀 my obsession with kue cubit ends here…I have succesfully made kue cubit so i don’t have to fly to jkt to get some…it was awesome!! I truly believe i can make anything!!!

What do i wanna be when i grow up? Tukang MARTABAK!!!!

Hehehe…ever felt like that? Don’t you ever walk down the street…and look at all the pedagang kaki lima…and think to yourself…man…how do they cook like that…its friggin awesome!!! lol…they’ve got awesome “techniques” and can whip up sumthing so’s just…fascinating😀

So, my recipe for the week issss…..MARTABAK TELUR!!

Aduh..aku kasih tau dulu ya…the preface of the story…because it was an ADVENTURE!!! So jena and v decided to go for a walk…and ya know..get rid of their xtra storage lol. When we went home..jade just finished her kumon hw…and she got an A and it was all very neat! We were very proud of we decided to treat her ice cream! Where better to go? Pepito EXPRESS! Yes, theres a pepito near my home now…next to GWK…so…i’m ecstatic…because…we LOVE PEPITO! ;p So…off we went the three lil pigs…to journey to pepito express…while shopping for goods to make this week’s recipe choice.

All the goods were there…we paused at the vic and jade could finish their ice cream first ;p AND THAT’S…when we saw the EVIL CLOUDS…boy were they evil…and they were covering up the sky…as quick as…a waterfall? LOL…whatever…you get the point! And it looked scary…so we started walking back…and as you can guess..drip…drip…and we weren’t even up to the front of my perumahan yet…so we started running a lil…kinda hard to run in sketchers shape ups!!….and then it poured…and boy did it poured…we thought quick…and rushed to the nearest big tree @ sumbodys backyard lol. What kind of a tree? A BAMBOO TREE! lol..not a very good pick. there we were soaked wet..we never saw the it coming! dialling mums number…wishing she’d pick up the phone already….drip drip drip…we were there for 10 minutes…dripping…until mum came 2 the rescue. Sigh…all that for today’s cooking. You see that readers…this is dedication…this is…the truth…ciahh

Anyways…lets get on with the coookiinggg…cuz we hungryyy

1 pak (isi 50) kulit lumpia ukuran besar (20 x20)
300 gr daging sapi cincang
1 buah bawang bombai ukuran sedang, cincang
2 siung bawang putih, cincang halus
10 batang daun bawang, iris halus
6 butir telur ayam
1 sdt bumbu kari (menurutku ya…bumbu karinya kurang terasa…i think we can add a lil bit more than the 1 sdt)
1 sdt garam (definitely more salt according to your taste buds..if you want salty..pls add more..i felt that i should have!)
1/2 sdt merica bubuk (i think this is the right amount of pepper, but adjust with the amount of salt if you wish to add more)
Minyak sayur secukupnya

Cara membuat:
1. Panaskan 2 sdm minyak sayur.
2. Tumis bawang putih sampai harum <– i love this smells so goood…
3. Masukkan daging sapi cincang. Aduk rata.
4. Setelah daging berubah warna, masukkan bumbu kari.
5. Masak hingga daging matang. Sisihkan.
6. Campur tumisan daging dengan telur, irisan daun bawang, bawang bombai, merica dan garam. Aduk rata. (using fork is good ;p)
7. Taruh 1 sdm adonan isi di atas selembar kulit lumpia. (it’s much easier if you have a tablespoon measurement, cuz then it shapes it just right atas kulit lumpianya). Although, i must say this step was tricky. Because there was sooo much eggs in the mix…it was really wet…and when putting a spoonful on top of the kulit don’t want it too wet…or else it’ll be really messy and won’t fold properly. I felt that it’s important…to get just the right amount of meat & egg. Not too wet or else you’ll have a hard time folding it and it will stick with the others!
8. Lipat seperti melipat amplop. Definitely use water on the edges of the kulit lumpia to help you keep the lumpia closed when it’s fried. My tip, when you are finished folding one, press down on it a little (gently), so that the meat evens out a bit..and makes a perfect square shape with the lumpia🙂
9. Goreng sambil dibolak-balik hingga matan dan kedua sisinya berwarna kecokelatan.
10. Angkat, tiriskan. Hidangkan bersama acar mentimun dan cabai rawit.

I think…the martabak telur was absolutely adorable..i’m so proud with how they turned out…i just wished the flavour was much stronger…but i guess it is after all just a gorengan…and it’s best accompanied with some sauce perhaps?😉

Stay with me readers…who knows what will happen to me on my next food journey!!!

P.S. Made with lotsa love &  hershey kisses…hehe special thanks for my v…for helping out in the kitchen🙂

I want to be a tukang martabak!

Sosis Solo is as Solo as it can get!

Lol…i don’t know if Sosis Solo really originated from Solo…you know how Indonesia always has the weirdest names for things. It’s called a sosis…but its nowhere near a sausage! Lol…if any of you guys…can tell me the story about where Sosis Solo originated, i would love to know!

    Sosis Solo

Bahan untuk kulit:
2 butir telur
150 gram tepung terigu
500 ml santan
1/2 sdt garam
Minyak untuk menggoreng

Bahan untuk isi:
250 gram daging cincang
50 ml santan kental
1/2 sdt garam
1/2 sdt gula
Sedikit minyak untuk menumis

Bumbu yang dihaluskan
5 butir bawang merah
4 siung bawang putih
2 butir kemiri, sangrai
1 sdt ketumbar, sangrai
1/2 sdt jintan

Cara membuat kulit dadar:
Telur dikocok lepas.
Masukkan santan dan garam, aduk rata.
Masukkan terigu sedikit demi sedikit sambil diaduk hingga tidak berbutir. (I felt like even if you put a little bit or a lot at the same time when it mixes with the mix it’s always berbutir! I don’t know how long i stirred and stirred…i think have muscles by now!) To make it easier you should just put in the tepung terigu lewat saringan…so it’s already halus then put it in the mix!
Panaskan wajan teflon datar berdiameter 20 cm, olesi dgn sedikit minyak. Victor blg sih…jd kyk pedagang kue cubit hehehe…
Tuang (1 sendok sayur) adonan ke dalam wajan. <– The first time i read that…i was like…what?!?! masukkin satu sendok sayur? So I ignored it lol. And turns out..omg…it was saying get a vegetable spoon size of the mix. Now this is important…not to put too much…or else it’ll be too thick…terus ntar nga bs digulung jd lumpia! (hehehe here’s my mistake…lol mine was so fat…i couldn’t fold it like an amplop…and jdnya susah tuk digoreng!)
Putar wajan agar terbentuk dadar yg sempurna & masak hingga matang.

Fiuh that was the first part…my tip for the first part is….don’t overcook it…or else the browning will be uneven. Just make sure its cooked enough…even if it still appears white (it almost is like a crepe) and then leave the browning when you fry it so it’s even browning!

Cara membuat isi:
Panaskan sedikit minyak sayur (2-3 sdm).
Tumis bumbu halus sampai berabu harum. Do you hard it is to ulek? IT IS HARD WORK!!! BUT I DID IT!! YAY…I CAN ULEK!!
Masukkan daging cincang, santan, garam, dan gula. My tip for this is ensure that the daging cincang is cooked first before you put in the santan.
Masak terus diaduk hingga matang.

Ambil selembar dadar, taruh 1 sendok makan bahan isi atasnya.
Bungkus seperti amplop, lalu gulung menyerupai lumpia. Ini aku dah bungkus seperti amplop…tp koq…jd susah digulung kyk lumpia ya??
Panaskan minyak agak banyak dlm wajan.
Goreng sosis solo sampai berwarna cokelat keemasan. This is where it should be evenly browned.
Angkat dan tiriskan.

And walah!!! You just made sosis solo!!

Hope ya enjoyed the recipe…i sure had fun making it…and Victor and my Mum seem very proud of me and they think its yummy!😀

Hehehe check out the results….lol….sorry it’s a bit fat ;p my bad…never misread the instructions! Added a little personal joke to it…hershey kisses…ahhh..a great way to the end the day….

The Fat Sosis Solo

Jendulz’s Kitchen…

Welcome to the Dudulz kitchen, it is here where I will experiment with all kinds of “stuff”….where i’ll spot out my mistakes…where i’ll make discoveries…and produce miracles!

So what’s going on…why am i starting a cooking blog?

Well here’s the story on my journey back from the US, i watched a movie ” Julie & Julia”…some of you may have already watched some of you may have not. But long story short…I was INSPIRED! This ordinary girl, Julie, who works as a telephone operator just wanted to do something with her life. She was tired of the same old life…work + home  + work + home and she wanted something different! She decided to start a cooking blog which will follow her entire journey as she cooks up all the recipe’s in chef Julia Child’s famous cookbook with a 1 year deadline!

I really enjoyed the movie and the thing is…i’d really like to spice up my “normal” life and just make the most out of it….So…bear with me guys…i’ve got no deadline…i’ve got no exact cookbook i’m following…sorta just trying this and that….

And throw in your comments and tips…you know i need it😉

i’m just an ordinary working girl…trying to relieve all that stress with the fascinating world of cooking!
